Floating fenders are different from other fixed fenders installed onto a certain spot. Floating fenders can move vertically along with the ups and downs of the tides. They are usually connected to chains to make them remain in fixed area. This feature of floating fenders make them suitable for docks with large movement of tides and for berthing between ships and vessels.
The main body of the floating fenders generally contains the steel bar, packing layer and rubber layer and so on. All the parts are consolidated and hermetically sealed by towing ring and flanges. On the outside of the floating fenders, chain and tire net and other additional protection layer can be assembled to extend the lifespan of the floating fenders.
The steel bar usually can bear large impacts to support the whole body. The packing layer and the rubber layer usually manufactured with highly elastomeric materials which can function well on large deflection. Different packing materials determine the floating fenders to be used for different areas.
