Floating fender is a special type of fender that can float on the water. It is a good solution to many docks with large tidal variations. This fender allows the ships to berth under extreme condition of the sea level. Many docks and ships are now equipped with floating fenders in different types.
The floating fenders have three different types in general, but the structure of them are almost the same. The main body of the floating fenders are composed of rubber layer, packing layer and steel bar. The steel bar is highly impact resistant so that it can greatly support the whole fender body under large impacts. The rubber layer and the packing layer form the cushion part, which can provide high energy absorption and low reaction force. Adding the chain and tire or other materials outside, the floating fenders can serve for a long time.
Floating fenders are connected with chains in application. This chain can satisfy the flexibility required and also can make the fenders stay at the right place. This installation method ensures that the floating will be rightly placed every time the vessels berth.
